What We Believe
PURPOSE STATEMENT
“Passion for Jesus, Compassion for the Lost, Devotion to One Another.”
Our mission is to build a church that is committed to the Great Commandment and the Great Commission.
a. The Great Commandment: Mark 12:29-30
b. The Great Commission: Mark 16:15-18
Thus: “Passion for Jesus…Compassion for the lost and Devotion to One Another.”
VISION STATEMENT
To build a growing, multi-ethnic, cell-based church that is passionately in love with Jesus and others.
To multiply a new generation of disciples, to carry the ministry of this church to the greater Tulsa area and into the world. To obey the Great Commission by local outreach and by planting Churches in America, those nations the Holy Spirit is visiting, and the 10/40 window.
MINISTRY PHILOSOPHY
Open Bible Fellowship earnestly desires to seek out and implement new and creative ways to bring great news to the least, last, and lost of our precious city. Through our outreach, worship, intercession, and discipleship, we desire to fulfill the commands and the promises of the New Testament church in an authentic, sincere, and powerful way. We embrace the Holy Spirit’s renewing power in our lives, and we believe that there is a soon coming revival that will affect our hearts, homes, church, city, state, and nation. As a church, we are prepared to fast, pray, repent, and order our lives to accommodate what He wants to do to us and through us.
CHURCH HISTORY
In 1994, Pastors Joel and Linda and Open Bible Fellowship experienced an “invasion” of the Holy Spirit. On that particular Sunday, God’s glory and power suddenly came into their ministry and the church services changing them, the church, and their ministry forever. People were literally swept off their feet and onto the floor in a sovereign move of God’s power. Signs, wonders, visions, weeping, laughter, shaking, holy conviction over sin, and groanings of intercession all broke out on that Sunday morning. It began in the first service, spilled over into the second service without a break, and continued on through the evening service until around midnight. Open Bible Fellowship has continued to receive a steady outpouring of the Holy Spirit that not only has manifested in signs, wonders, and deep intercession but also in repentance, outreach to the lost, and a consistent flow of physical healings in the presence of God. This outpouring of His Spirit and presence continues in the services to this day.
WORSHIP STYLE
Open Bible Fellowship firmly believes that pure, authentic and intimate worship is paramount to the pursuit and ultimate hosting of the life-changing power of the presence of God. As a church, Open Bible Fellowship promotes freedom of worship and personal devotion to our Heavenly Father through the use of instruments, voice, banners, and dance. Scripture tells us that God inhabits the praises of His people; therefore, we desire our praise to host His continual habitation in our services.
